Webcam Test
Check the camera works, and see the resolution and frame rate you are actually getting rather than the numbers on the box. The video never leaves your browser: there is no recording, no upload, and the camera is released the moment you stop it.
Nothing here is transmitted or saved. The preview is a live stream rendered locally, the still capture is a canvas held in memory, and Stop camera releases the device and turns your camera light off. This page has no server to send anything to.
What a web page can and cannot see
so you know what these numbers are worth- Asked for is not the same as delivered. Request 1080p and a camera may hand back 720p, or drop to 15fps in poor light. Test 02 reports what actually arrived.
- Frame rate is measured, not trusted. The track reports an intended figure; the number here counts real frames, which is what falls apart under a dim bulb.
- Camera names appear only after permission. Before you allow access the device list is unnamed, which is a browser privacy rule rather than a fault.
- Image quality is not measurable here. Sharpness, colour accuracy and noise are for your eyes. Nothing on this page grades your camera.
Preview
If you see yourself, the camera, the driver and the browser permission are all working. A black frame with the camera light on usually means another application has the device, or a privacy shutter is closed.
Mirroring is on by default because an unmirrored view of your own face is disconcerting and makes people think something is wrong. It changes the preview only, never the still capture.
